From your first println to shipping something real

Every module alternates a concept block with hands-on work. By the time you reach the capstone, you've already built five small programs and shipped one.

01 / 08
  1. Concept 5 days

    How computers run code

Source text becomes machine instructions. The call stack, the heap, and what actually happens the moment you press run.

    • Source, bytecode, machine code
    • Stack frames & lifetimes
    • What "running" really means
  2. Workshop 6 days

    Values, types & memory

Why "everything is an object" is half true. How data lives in memory, and why mutability turns innocent code into bugs.

    • Primitives vs references
    • Mutability & shared state
    • Scope & shadowing
  3. Concept 5 days

    Decisions & iteration

Branching, loops, and the first taste of recursion. By the end you've written a tiny interpreter for arithmetic expressions.

    • If, switch, early returns
    • While, for, iterators
    • Recursion, introduced gently
  4. Workshop 7 days

    Collections

Lists, maps, sets. When each shape shines, and the operations that quietly make or break performance at scale.

    • Lists, arrays, vectors
    • Maps, sets, lookup tables
    • Picking the right structure
  5. Concept 5 days

    Functions as building blocks

Decomposing problems into named operations. Pure functions, closures, and the joy of small composable pieces.

    • Parameters, returns, defaults
    • Closures & first-class functions
    • Composition over inheritance
  6. Workshop 7 days

    Modeling with objects

When to reach for a class, when for a struct, and when neither. The patterns that scale and the ones that quietly hurt.

    • Classes, structs, records
    • Inheritance vs composition
    • Polymorphism & interfaces
  7. Project 7 days

    Talking to the web

Make requests, parse responses, handle auth. Build a CLI tool that talks to a real API end to end, with retries and errors.

    • HTTP, verbs, status codes
    • JSON without losing your mind
    • Tokens, keys, basic auth
  8. Milestone 10 days

    Capstone: build & ship

Pick a real problem. Design the solution. Write the code, test it, deploy it. You leave with a portfolio piece and a working app.

    • Scope & specification
    • Tests as documentation
    • Deployment & feedback loops
